A day with the craftspeople of the south shore: an eagle hunting demonstration, building a yurt, a shyrdak workshop and beshbarmak.
I created this day so that guests could see the crafts that are still alive in our villages. In the morning we visit a berkutchi I know: he explains how he raises his eagle and shows a hunt in the foothills. You can hold the eagle on your arm in a protective glove. After that comes a workshop where a family puts up a yurt before your eyes, and you help stretch the felt and set the tunduk. A shyrdak maker shows how patterned carpets are made, and you create your own small piece to take home. We finish with lunch: we learn to cook beshbarmak and try boorsok with kaymak. The programme is private and fits your schedule.

Holding a golden eagle on my arm is something I'll never forget. The felt workshop and cooking beshbarmak with the family felt genuine, not staged at all.
