An evening walk around Karakol: the wooden cathedral, the Dungan mosque built without nails, ashlan-fu at the bazaar and dinner with a Dungan family.

Karakol is a town with flavour. We start at the wooden Holy Trinity Cathedral, walk to the Dungan Mosque, built by Chinese craftsmen without a single nail, and along the way look at 19th-century merchant houses with carved window frames. Then we head to the bazaar to try ashlan-fu: cold spicy noodles that people in Karakol eat in any season. We finish as guests of a Dungan family, where the hostess lays a table of eight dishes and tells how her ancestors came here a century and a half ago. Perfect for a first evening in Karakol. Suitable for children and guests of any age.

Food was delicious, but the group was big and it was hard to hear the guide at the market.

Ашлян-фу на базаре и ужин из восьми блюд у дунганской семьи — мы потом весь вечер обсуждали. Про мечеть без гвоздей Айгерим рассказала так, что захотелось почитать больше.
