A one-day hike from the Seven Bulls and Broken Heart rocks to the alpine meadows of the Valley of Flowers, with a guide, a transfer from Karakol and lunch by the river.
Jeti-Oguz is one of the most recognisable gorges of the Issyk-Kul region: the red Seven Bulls and Broken Heart rocks at the entrance, spruce forests on the slopes and the wide Valley of Flowers, where poppies and edelweiss bloom in June and July. We leave Karakol in the morning and start walking 40 minutes later at the Jeti-Oguz sanatorium. The trail follows the river and climbs gently — about 400 metres over the day. We stop for lunch in the meadow; on a clear day you can see the glaciers of the Terskey Ala-Too range. The route suits first-timers in the mountains: 12 km at an easy pace, and the guide adjusts to the group. We are back in Karakol by the evening.
